About the site

This is the first website I built from scratch. No Frontpage (which I used to build my first site in 2003), no Dreamweaver (which I used to build a site during my e-Commerce class in my BBA studies), and no frameworks (a lot of sites out there look too much alike). I wanted to see what I could come up with. The site was put together to fulfill my Portfolio requirement in the Web Developer program at SAIT. It will continually evolve and have additions made. One of my first goals is to refine the old-style 1890s to early 1900s newspaper look, the steam-punk era. Fonts need to be adjusted. Proper copy needs to be written that matches the era.

Future plans are to develop some new "skins" that match other time periods, like the 1920s art deco era, into the diesel-punk era, and up to and including the 1950s. This is reflective of my time working at Fort Steele Heritage Town on their steam train operations, and having a strong interest in history.

The #1077 steam locomotive on the home page of this site was my office for 5 summer seasons, and that happens to be me standing in the middle of the photo. It was a great, unique experience not many people get to do and taught me team work, public speaking, and marketing as well - cherished skills I was able to apply in other positions. As this website will evolve as the styles of newspapers have over time, please, come back and check it out!
